FILM REVIEW: “TWISTED ANGELS”

“Twisted Angels” is an intimate and interesting look at a young woman’s life in a religious prep school that that spares no feelings in it’s representation of religious persecution, hypocrisy and “mean girl” attitude - all in the name of God.

What seems to be a very personal piece for Writer and Director Trinity Johnson - whose dialogue feels like it comes straight from the halls of such an establishment- pulls no punches with her message, making the film challenging for some viewers, but it’s the rawness of the performances and dialogue that make up for the economy of the production.

The director makes a fascinating artistic choice of keeping the faces of the male performers obscured by shadows and focus, creating an even more menacing environment for the intense subject matter that follows.
